Our journey began in 2019 when Enzo, a source of immeasurable joy, became a part of our lives. Led by Maya and Kieran, partners blessed to call the Canadian West Coast home, our family has thrived, and our love for these incredible creatures has deepened.

As an active young family, we embrace the great outdoors, exploring the breathtaking west coast shorelines, verdant forests, and majestic mountains with our furry friends by our side.

Dogs First

Our journey began with a deep-rooted passion for our dogs, making them the focal point of our entire program. At Enzo Lotus & Co., our commitment to our canine companions is unwavering. From the outset, our dedication is evident in the priority we give to Guardian families – an integral part of our ethos.

In our program, we believe that dogs flourish when surrounded by Love, Attention, Devotion, and Nourishment. This philosophy is the cornerstone of our approach, ensuring the well-being of each member of our extended furry family.

Apart from our beloved Enzo & Lotus, the "Co." company companions reside with individual Guardian families. These families are not just temporary homes; they are the forever homes for our dogs. Even after their "retirement," our dogs remain with the same families, fostering enduring connections and providing a stable, loving environment throughout their lives.

Before Breeding

The foundation of our breeding process is meticulous planning and dedicated care. Every aspect revolves around our Applicants' preferences and desires. Prioritizing transparency and health, we utilize Embark DNA screening to ensure our matches are free from any identified genetic or physical abnormalities.

Our commitment to the well-being of our females is paramount. Before embarking on their litters, we ensure they are in optimal health. Each female undergoes a thorough health assessment, including having at least one heat cycle and reaching maturity before having their first litter.

We adhere to a responsible breeding practice, allowing our females to have up to four litters. However, should any concerns arise during their reproductive journey, we prioritize their well-being and retire them promptly. This stringent approach reflects our dedication to producing healthy, happy litters while maintaining the utmost care for our breeding females.

Puppies!

During the majority of her pregnancy, our female remains with her loving family. When it's two weeks until the due date or if she experiences any significant strain or stress, she transitions to a special, isolated space with us. In this designated area, each expectant mom is provided with a whelping box and a crate within a contained pen, ensuring a comfortable and secure environment. Maya and Kieran, are present around the clock during the final week, closely monitoring temperature and mood changes to anticipate the onset of labour.

For added precaution, we have emergency delivery tools on hand, and if needed, both veterinary technicians and veterinarians are on standby throughout the labour process.

Throughout the crucial first eight weeks of life, we closely observe weight, overall personality, and developmental milestones. By the end of the first week, each puppy attains significant milestones, doubling in weight from birth, demonstrating basic motor control, nursing without assistance, and maintaining cleanliness while remaining free of infection. As the second week unfolds, the puppies open their eyes, showcase the ability to turn and roll over, become comfortable with being held, and begin vocalizing their thoughts. Progressing into the third week, their eyes fully open, they can be comfortably held on their back, experience their first nail clipping, and no longer rely on their mother for warmth.

By the fourth week, the puppies embark on litter training, recognize their names and sounds, engage in playful interactions with their siblings, and initiate socialization with new environments and different people. At six weeks, the puppies are fully weaned and proficient in using the litter box, continuing to explore and adapt to new sensory experiences.

By eight weeks, our puppies are weaned, potty trained, responsive to their names, and adept at sleeping in a crate. This holistic approach to care ensures the comprehensive and well-rounded development of each puppy within our program.

Once Puppies go home

  • From the first night we're available to answer continued questions and provide ongoing guidance.

  • We're proud to have you as part of our pack, we make sure to check in on puppy milestones. We love to see a flood of puppy family updates that are often shared on our Facebook Group as litter goes home enjoyed old and new families.
